Frequently asked questions.
Why have a web site dedicated to your projects?
This site came about after frequent urging from family and friends to showcase the projects they received and appreciated over the years.
How long have you been doing woodworking?
Pretty much my whole life. My father was a carpenter and I was his helper ever since I can remember. Growing up while he literally built our house around us I saw everything from rough-in carpentry to fine cabinet making. I think of it as a long apprenticeship with a great teacher.
Where you a professional woodworker?
No. Although woodworking was not my primary career, it has be a lifelong passion of mine to design and build items having utility and artistic appeal.
What makes your pieces unique?
I like to use recycled (upcycled) materials whenever possible. Combining things that other people look at and throw away is an interesting challenge for me. I take inspiration from flaws in materials and incorporate them into the design. It’s easier to build something from pristine material and make it look old, but using old, weathered and broken material just seems to have a certain “genuine feel” about it.
Do you sell the pieces that you make?
I have sold commissioned pieces before and I am taking more requests for custom pieces. In addition, I am starting to make limited signed pieces of new designs that will be for sale.
How can I contact you?
You can contact me with any questions on the form at the bottom of the Contact page.
